Coach Hill is an established residential neighbourhood in the South West quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded by Sarcee Trail to the east, Bow Trail to the south, 69 Street to the west and Old Banff Coach Road to the north. Head west on Bow Trail and once you’ve passed Sarcee Trail, look right and you’ll see Coach Hill and some of the Prominence Patterson Condos built on the side of what was once called Broadcast Hill.
One of the first communities to be built on the hill in 1979, these homes have begun changing hands and getting updated interiors. This neighborhood is popular with many because of the well established landscaping, beautiful mature trees and shrubs that gives this community a more established, estate feel. Coach Hill acquired its name because of the old Stage Coaches that used to travel along the neighborhood’s Old Banff Coach Road, headed towards Banff.
Coach Hill can’t be missed with its landmark two condo buildings, the Odyssey Towers. It is unusual to find such modern architecture in a rural neighborhood, standing alongside soccer fields and single family homes.Coach Hill is also home to some of the most architecturally interesting town homes decidedly alpine in appearance.
Coach Hill is a member of the Coach Hill Patterson Heights Community Association or CHPH shared with the Prominence Patterson Community.
While there are no schools built within Coach Hill, there are a number in good proximity. Please make sure you check the Calgary Board of Education and Calgary Catholic School Board websites for current school locations and/or busing programs. Many of the local schools in the area are capped and students are being bussed to neighboring communities so it’s important to check in advance. Nearby Springborough has an outstanding pre-school program called Brite Studios.
The west end of Calgary has become one of the most desirable new districts in the city. Wooded landscapes, panoramic mountain vistas and easy LRT access to downtown make it the perfect location for luxury estate and affordable residences alike. Residents enjoy their newest shopping center, Aspen Landing.
You’ll find Coach Hill is in close proximity to several grocery stores, all within a 5-10 minute walk or drive: Safeway, Coop, Sobey’s, Sunterra Market and my personal favorite Blush Lane Organic Market.
The facilities and athletic programs for young and old alike at the Westside Rec Center are outstanding. Take your kids to enjoy the wave pool and slide or swim laps or take lessons. Upstairs is a massive running track and programs include a state of the art Spin Class with virtual rides. The Westside programs have become a social hub for all ages. Join a few friends and head to Waves Coffee shop in Springborough after class.
Here are a number of listings currently available in this community. Please contact me by phone or text if you would like to preview any of these beautiful homes.
